if you live in the US and have ever sent a message telling the recipient to kill themselves, you’ve committed the felony of encouraging suicide and, depending on the state’s laws (meaning, what class of felony it is), you could be looking at a fine of $25,000+ and 10+ years in prison, just for encouragement

and if they actually do it, you are legally responsible and, in some states, you can also be charged with manslaughter

It’s not possible to use the ‘Import from an existing URL instead?’ option in AO3 to import stories from Fanfiction.net. You’ll get this error: “Please note! Imports from fanfiction.net are no longer available because of a block on their end.”
For anyone wanting to manually import their files from FFN into AO3, do this:
Open FFN
Go to the publish section of FFN
Click on Manage Stories
Select the Story
Select the Content/Chapters tab
Click the ‘DL’ link for the chapter. This will take you to an html-only version of your story with no additional formatting. It will open in a new tab.
In the new tab, Right click and select ‘View source’.
Select All and Copy (Cntrl-A, Cntrl-C) in the View Source page that opens.
Paste (Cntrl-V) it into the HTML ‘Work Text’ area of the ‘Post New’ page in AO3.
Or, copy and paste it from your machine, if you have the original source.
It’s not pretty or fun, but it works, and FFN can’t block it. It’s just text.

From a blog whose tagline is “Taking down Baby Murderers with Logic!”

stfuconservatives:

SERIOUSLY:

“Abortion causes breast cancer. If a woman is choosing whether or not to have an abortion, she is basically choosing whether she will endure motherhood with patience and mercy or risk her body attacking her with breast cancer later.”

So ok but that’s not even remotely true, or logic, or anything like that. I looked in my extensive abortion bookmarks folder and I didn’t even have a link refuting this saved, because it’s been debunked so many times that I just assumed it was common knowledge.

via The National Cancer Institute (cancer.gov) and the National Institute of Health:

The relationship between induced and spontaneous abortion and breast cancer risk has been the subject of extensive research beginning in the late 1950s. Until the mid-1990s, the evidence was inconsistent. Findings from some studies suggested there was no increase in risk of breast cancer among women who had had an abortion, while findings from other studies suggested there was an increased risk. Most of these studies, however, were flawed in a number of ways that can lead to unreliable results. … Since then, better-designed studies have been conducted. These newer studies examined large numbers of women, collected data before breast cancer was found, and gathered medical history information from medical records rather than simply from self-reports, thereby generating more reliable findings. The newer studies consistently showed no association between induced and spontaneous abortions and breast cancer risk.

from the American Cancer Society:

At this time, the scientific evidence does not support the notion that abortion of any kind raises the risk of breast cancer or any other type of cancer.

from Slate’s recent article “Do Abortions Cause Breast Cancer? The shaky science behind Kansas’ House Abortion Act”

Elective abortions are not associated with an increased risk of breast cancer.

LOGIC!
